Suspected Heroin, Cocaine Found During Solon Traffic Stop

Police said they stopped a car for speeding on Saturday. When they saw one of the passengers, they knew there was something more going on.

SOLON, OH — Suspected heroin and cocaine were found inside a car stopped by police on US 422. Police believe the driver of the car may have hidden a syringe that was in the vehicle.

The traffic stop happened Saturday night. A car was clocked blowing past the speed limit on US 422 east, police said. A patrolling officer stopped the car.

While approaching the vehicle, officers saw a man laying across the car's backseat. The man's feet were up and a syringe was in plain view, with the needle exposed.

Police pulled the man out of the car and searched him. He had a folded, paper bindle with a white powder, police said. The man told police the powder was heroin. He added that there was also a container of cocaine and a plastic bag of marijuana inside the car.

The man, a 28-year-old from Reminderville was arrested and placed in a patrol vehicle. Officers then interviewed the driver.

Police found the syringe they had seen earlier was no longer in the backseat. Officers searched the vehicle, but could not find the syringe. They also noticed a Kleenex and piece of paper had been taken from the car.

Nearby, police found the items removed from the driver in a patch of grass. However, dash camera footage didn't provide enough evidence to arrest the driver, police said.
