Teens Drink Wine Coolers In Solon Grocery Store Bathroom: Police

A 12-year-old and 14-year-old drank wine coolers and ate potato salad and a doughnut at Market District, according to police.

SOLON, OH — Two teenage girls were arrested after they were caught drinking wine coolers int he bathroom of Market District, police said. The girls also admitted to stealing sunglasses, a doughnut and a container of potato salad.

A little after 1 a.m. on April 27, employees at Market District told an off-duty Solon police officer that two teenagers were suspiciously going in and out of the women's bathroom. The teenagers seemed to be by themselves, with no parents in sight.

The officer investigated and then detained a 12-year-old and a 14-year-old girl. The officer contacted the parents of the teenagers.

Police then checked the bathroom and found empty wine coolers on the ground. The 14-year-old told police she had stolen the bottles and drank them, police said. She was given a portable test, which indicated she had alcohol in her system.

The 14-year-old then told officers she had stolen a pair of sunglasses from CVS earlier in the evening, according to police reports.

The 12-year-old admitted to stealing a doughnut and potato salad and then eating them in the Market District, police said.

The case has been sent to juvenile court for review.
