Thanksgiving 2017: Ohio Construction, Traffic Updates

SOLON, OH — The days around Thanksgiving are some of the busiest on the roadways for Americans. As people around Northeast Ohio start either hit the roads or try to come home, the Ohio Department of Transportation has released a list of ongoing projects that may impact commutes.

Patch has broken down the projects by highways.

I-77 in Cuyahoga County

• All lanes of I-77 north and south over I-490 will be shifted to accommodate bridge demolition and construction operations.
• The Orange Avenue entrance ramp to I-77 south will be reduced to one lane through fall 2019.
• Near Brecksville and Richfield, I-77 north and south lanes have been shifted, with the right two lanes open and the left lane closed.

I-90 in Cuyahoga County

• Coming home next week? Crews will be closing parts of I-90 east between Canterbury Road and Clague Road from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Crews will be resurfacing roads during that time.
• Crews will close the left shoulder of I-90 east between Detroit and Hilliard roads from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for drainage repairs.
• The Columbia Road entrance ramp to I-90 east and the exit ramp from I-90 east onto Columbia is now open. However, all eastbound lanes of I-90 have been shifted one lane left through November.

I-271 in Cuyahoga County

• For those coming back on Black Friday, the right lane of I-271 north, and the left lane of I-480 west will close near the merge (which is south of Alexander Road) for pavement striping.
• Minor traffic impacts may take place between Fairmount Boulevard and Wilson Mills Road. Crews may be doing final pavement markings or work zone cleanup.
• There are now three lanes north on Brainard Road between the I-271 north ramp and Cedar Road, two of which are right turn lanes.
