Thieves Targeting Unlocked Cars In Solon
Residents should lock their cars at night to keep their possession safe.

SOLON, OH — Over a seven day span, at least 10 cars were entered into in Solon. Property was stolen from those vehicles and most of the targets were unlocked. Thieves are also targeting bicycles at the Park East Apartments garages.

Theft, Oct. 19 — Several cars were entered around the city between Oct. 19 and Oct. 26. Two cars on Pepper Drive, one car on Woodsdale Lane, five on Maple Drive, one on Meadowdale Drive and one on Carriage Park were all targeted and items were taken from each vehicle. Most of the cars were unlocked. Bicycles have also been stolen from the Park East Apartments in the garages.

OVI, Oct. 20 — Police stopped a 57-year-old Erie, Penn. man for reportedly driving impaired on Aurora Road. Callers reported the man's vehicle was behaving erratically. A caller said they saw the vehicle pull into the Solon Motel. Officers arrived and found the man sitting in his car in a parking spot at the motel. He seemed to be intoxicated. There was an odor of alcohol emanating from the car. The man had bloodshot eyes and wing sauce all over his face. Field sobriety tests showed he was impaired, then the man blew a .190 on a breath test. He was charged with OVI, prohibited BAC and driving under suspension.
OVI, Oct. 21 — A 40-year-old Bedford woman was parked on Harper Road, partially blocking the westbound lane of traffic. An officer investigated the situation and found the woman in the vehicle, apparently impaired. There was a plastic cup in the cup holder that had alcohol in it. The woman blew a .141 on a breath test.

Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Oct. 21 — An officer stopped a car for having dark tinted windows. The officer ran the registration and discovered the vehicle had been reported stolen from a Detroit resident. The driver, a 34-year-old Warren man, was arrested and charged with possession of a stolen vehicle.
Criminal Damage, Oct. 21 — A Solon resident had a guest at his home. When that guest left they hit the resident's mailbox and the mailbox of a neighbor. Police were able to locate that guest and issue a citation for criminal damage.
