University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center Auxiliary awards 2014 scholarships to graduating seniors pursuing health care careers

Four area high school students receive one-year, $1,000 tuition grants

GEAUGA COUNTY – Four graduating high school seniors from the Geauga County area are the 2014 recipients of the University Hospitals (UH) Geauga Medical Center Auxiliary Scholarship Grant. The grant is awarded to exceptional students who are pursuing a health care career. The Auxiliary has awarded annual grants to area students for over 20 years.

The Auxiliary received two dozen applicants for this year’s grant. A four-member committee considered the students’ academic records; commitments and achievements at school and in the community; and financial needs. “To be eligible, a graduating senior must be a resident of Geauga County, attend a high school that serves Geauga County; and state his or her health care career goals in an essay,” says Helen Thomas, UH Geauga Medical Center Auxiliary Scholarship Committee Chairperson. “Each applicant is very accomplished in his or her academics and community involvement which made it very difficult to choose the winners.”
