Wild Motorcycle Chase Ends In Solon

Police said a motorcyclist avoided police by driving through fields of grass and blowing through red lights.

SOLON, OH — A motorcyclist tried to avoid police by driving over grass and then hiding inside a business in Solon on Tuesday afternoon, police said. The motorcyclist was found behind a pile of boxes at a building on Fountain Parkway.

At 12:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Bedford police were chasing a motorcyclist into Solon. Officers told Solon police the motorcyclist was not displaying his license plates properly and the rider had been driving in a reckless manner.

The motorcyclist turned north onto Cochran Road while being pursued by Bedford police. The rider then pulled into the Circle K gas station at the corner of Cochran and Aurora roads and was chased onto a dead end street.

Instead of giving himself up, the motorcyclist went off road, through a field and back onto Harper Road. Solon police then began chasing the rider.

The motorcyclist blew through a red light at Harper and Bainbridge roads, swerved into oncoming traffic and drove onto US 422 west. Before getting onto the highway, the rider turned around, on the entrance ramp, and then drove through the grass to get back onto Harper Road, going south.

Police stopped pursuing the motorcyclist at this point. However, witnesses flagged down officers and told them the rider had driven to a business on Fountain Parkway.

Officers found the motorcycle hidden between a parked car and the building. Employees at the building then told officers the motorcyclist was inside and was hiding. Officers found the rider hidden on top of a pile of boxes.

The motorcyclist, a 21-year-old from Cleveland, was taken into custody.
