Wrong Way Driver Gets Arrested For Drinking, Driving In Solon

Plus, a woman driving 90 mph on US 422 gets busted and a man tries to steal $200 in groceries from Marc's.

SOLON, OH — Police were busy at the end of April. They caught a bevy of drunk drivers and helped stop a man from making off with a cart full of groceries. Read about all of those incidents in the police blotter below.

OVI, April 24 — Officers stopped a car on SR 43 for speeding. The vehicle was seen driving 50 mph in a 35 mph zone near Enterprise Parkway. The driver of the car was a 37-year-old Chagrin Falls man. Police said there was a smell of alcohol undulating from the man. Officers had the man do some field sobriety tests and then arrested the 37-year-old. He was taken to Solon Jail where he refused a breath test. He has been charged with operating a vehicle impaired and speeding.

Theft, April 26 — Loss prevention officers at Marc's, 6231 SOM Center Road, stopped a would-be shoplifter. Police arrived at the scene and learned that a 58-year-old Bedford man had attempted to leave the store without paying for nearly $200 in groceries. The man was arrested for theft.

OVI, April 28 — Police stopped a car on Richmond Road on April 28. The 48-year-old driver was on the wrong side of the road. He was arrested and taken to Solon Jail where he refused to take a breath test. He has been charged with operating a vehicle impaired and driving upon the right side of the roadway.

OVI, April 29 — Generally speaking, driving 90 mph will get you pulled over by police. A 29-year-old Chesterland woman found that last week when police pulled her over on US 422 (where the speed limit is 60 mph). Officers reportedly saw signs of impairment on the woman, so they arrested her and took her to Solon Jail. She took a breath test and blew .219. She has been charged with operating a vehicle impaired, prohibited BAC and speeding.
