Zoup! Manager Steals Nearly $1,500 from Store: Solon Police Blotter

The former manager took the entire cash deposit from the store on three separate occasions.

SOLON, OH -

Domestic Violence, White Oak Drive: An Iraqi immigrant threatened to kill his wife November 21st at 4:35 p.m. Officers responded to a home where they spoke with a female resident and her daughter, who was acting as a translator for her mother. Officers learned that the resident was being threatened by her husband and she fears he will act on the threats to kill her. According to the victims they moved to the US from Iraq six years ago and in the Iraqi society it is not uncommon for husbands to threaten and harm their wives without fear of repercussion. He has also threatened the daughter.

Theft, Zoup!: A former manager of Zoup, 30050 Aurora Road, is accused of stealing the entire cash deposits from the store. The thefts occurred on three nights between Sept. 6 and Oct. 4. The manager allegedly stole $1,416. Attempts by management to contact the manager have been unsuccessful and an arrest warrant has been issued for Ryan Chisholm, 27, of Warrensville Heights.

OVI, SR 91: On November 17th at 10:50 p.m. an officer stopped a vehicle on SR 91 near Maple Drive for speed and lane violations. Upon approaching the driver, the officer noted a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the car, and the driver had bloodshot eyes and mumbled speech. Field sobriety tests further indicated impairment and Brett Mirman, 37 of Solon, was arrested and taken to jail where he submitted to a breath test with a result of .045. Mirman was charged with OVI, Speed, and given a written warning for Failure to Maintain Marked Lanes.

Theft, AT&T: A man grabbed a Samsung Galaxy S7 and ran out of the AT&T store, 33632 Aurora Road. As the suspect ran from the store he dropped another cell phone which was recovered. The stolen Samsung is valued at $795.00; the reporting officer will follow up on the theft.

Theft, Valley Lane: A 74-year-old Valley Lane resident reported that someone masquerading as his god-daughter called him and said she had been arrested in Bay Village and needed money for bond on Nov. 22. The goddaughter told the man to call Sgt. Aim at a specific phone number. The man did and the "officer" told him to go to a Walmart or Target and purchase $4,000 in gift cards and call him back. The man complied and then gave the "Sergeant" the numbers from the gift cards. Then he spoke to his goddaughter who told him that she hadn't reached out to him and had not been arrested.

Soliciting, Market District: On November 22nd at 5:15 p.m. an officer was at Market District, 34310 Aurora Road, following up on another incident when he was notified about two individuals in the lobby area soliciting money. Carmen Lewis, 52 of Cleveland, and Tanya Seals, 51 of East Cleveland were arrested for outstanding warrants and issued criminal warnings for Soliciting. They were turned over to Bedford Police.
