Absorbent Minds is excited to be opening a second campus and adding an elementary program. This new campus will be located inside St. Mark Lutheran Church (158 North Ave. Tallmadge, Ohio).

Absorbent Minds Montessori School was born in August of 2006 when founder Brandy Franks, was informed the private school she was teaching at was not going to re-open in the coming weeks. It was always a dream of Brandy’s to have her own school, and it seemed doors were opening.

Brandy has always had a passion for teaching and guiding children. Ever since she was a teenager babysitting, teaching Sunday school at church or coaching softball, she has felt a calling to the education field. Brandy sees a problem with the education in our society; the educational options available for children are not of high quality, and do not meet the needs of the child developmentally, socially or academically. Brandy’s dream for Absorbent Minds is to use the Montessori Method of education to develop a self-disciplined, self-reliant child who is strong, not only academically, but also in character and leadership.

Since opening in 2006, Absorbent Minds Cuyahoga Falls has grown from offering a preschool program seven years ago to graduating its 5th Kindergarten class this past June. In partnership with Cuyahoga Falls Administrator, Kelly Andamasaris, the next phase of Brandy’s vision was formed in establishing a second campus with the addition of the elementary program. AMS Montessori Directress and Ohio licensed teacher, Ms. Courtney Owens will be joining the Tallmadge team to lead the Preschool and Kindergarten Classroom. After two years of field training and substitute teaching at Absorbent Minds Cuyahoga Falls, Ms. Courtney joined the Cuyahoga Falls team in 2012 as a Co-Directress. Brandy will be leading the elementary program in Tallmadge.
