The Citizens Involvement Committee (CIC) of the Akron Metropolitan Area Transportation Study (AMATS) will discuss the nearly $61 million Ohio Department of Transportation project to widen Interstate 271. Scheduled to begin in 2014, the project will widen I-271 to six lanes and extend for more than 2.6 miles through the city of Macedonia. Because of this project’s significance to the Greater Akron area, AMATS must modify the area’s long-range Transportation Outlook 2035 and its four-year Transportation Improvement Program.
