BOE Hopeful Appealing Candidacy Disqualfication
Stow-Munroe Falls Board of Education hopeful Fred Bonacci was disqualified for the Nov. 8 election because the date of the election, Nov. 8, was not included in his petitions. He will appeal the decision Friday.
Fred Bonacci, who wants a chance to run for the , is hoping the Summit County Board of Elections will be "sympathetic" Friday when it hears an appeal for disqualifying his petitions.
"It was an honest mistake," said Bonacci, who explained that he wasn't sure of the date of the election and forgot to fill in "Nov. 8, 2011" before turning in his petitions.
Bonacci requested an appeal yesterday after finding out the news and the board has a special meeting scheduled Aug. 26 at 10:30 a.m. to hear his appeal.

"I'm just going to be honest," he said. "I'm not sure if I'm optimistic, but I am excited that they'll at least hear my appeal."
If the board does not accept his appeal, Bonacci said he would be "disappointed ... because I feel like I am letting people down who wanted me to run. But, we'll see how it goes, at least I have a chance for [the board] to hear me."
