Concessions in Employee Contracts to Save School District Millions
No raises alone adds up to about $1 million in savings for the district during the next two school years.

The concessions both school unions and administrators recently accepted will save the Stow-Munroe Falls School District about $3.17 million by the end of the 2012-13 fiscal year.
In the new two-year contract, the , the and will not receive a raise or longevity step increases and healthcare costs will double the first year and triple the second.
District Treasurer/CFO Catherine Bulgrin said during that two year period of time, the district will save a little more than $1 million by not taking a 3 percent pay increase for all employees across the district.Â

No longevity step increases will save about $1.25 million by the end of the 2012-13 fiscal year, Bulgrin said.
An increase employee cost for healthcare is expected to save the district about $915,000 by the end of the second year of the contract, she said. Every employee's healthcare cost will increase from 5 percent to 10 percent this school year and increase to 15 percent during the 2012-13 school year.

Bulgrin said single coverage now is $31.61 a month and family coverage it is currently $76.93 a month.
In the second year of the agreement, all employees will receive a one-time stipend. Part-time employees will get $500 and full-time employees will receive $1,000.
