Stow Tops Lists in Cleveland Magazine's 'Rating the Suburbs' Issue

Cleveland Magazine released its annual 'Rating the Suburbs' issue this week.

Stow doesn't make the top 20 overall list, according to Cleveland Magazine's annual "Rating the Suburbs" issue, but the community did well in two categories. 

The magazine, which was released to newsstands this week, rated all 77 suburbs of Cleveland on a variety of factors, including schools, safety, walkability, home prices, taxes and more.

Stow did make it to two top 15 lists.

  • For home sales, Stow ranked 8th with 274 homes sold in 2011. Parma was first with 452, then Lakewood with 324, Brunswick with 320, Strongsville with 303, Cuyahoga Falls with 290 and Medina had 289.
  • For the 10-year median home sale price increase, Stow ranked 13th, with an increase of 16.37 percent. Willoughby Hills was first with a 37.38 percent increase, then Bath with 31.67 percent. 

The median home sale price in 2011 was $161,750 in Stow.

The magazine lists the as 20th overall for education out of 77 communities.
