ICICLES TRANSFORM GORGE INTO ‘CRYSTAL PALACE’

Huge, colorful icicles drip from the rock cliffs — some of which drop 60 feet or more into the Cuyahoga River — in Gorge Metro Park each winter.

On Sunday, February 2 at 2 p.m., and Saturday, February 8 at 2 p.m., Naturalist Mike Greene will accompany visitors to a breathtaking view of this ‘Crystal Palace’ along the rugged 1.8-mile Glens Trail.

Sturdy boots are recommended for these FREE programs.

“Impressive ice formations have attracted visitors to the Gorge for more than a century,” said Greene. “These educational hikes are popular with new visitors as well as veterans who look forward to them each year.”

The 155-acre Gorge Metro Park, 1160 Front. St., Cuyahoga Falls, offers three hiking trails, an accessible fishing dock, picnic areas with grills and an open-air shelter.
