Mail Scam Gets Thousands from Stow Man: Police Blotter
The following information was supplied by the Stow Police Department.
• A resident of the 2900 block of Crown Pointe Drive called at 4:56 p.m. March 14 to report a possible felony theft via U.S. mail.
The man, 51, told police he was "tricked" into believing that his timeshare was sold by First Capital Financial. He mailed the company a $2,276 check for processing fees before finding out that it may be a scam.
The man said he has not been able to contact the company since he mailed the check in mid-January.

• A resident of the 2500 block of Maplehurst Drive called Stow Police at 8:28 p.m. March 13 to report the felony theft of her wedding ring valued at $10,000.
The woman, 22, told police she believes a known male stole her ring between March 8-9 while he was at her residence. She described the ring as white gold with round and triangle diamonds and engraved leaves on the band.
