The following information was supplied by the Stow Police Department.

Last night said a man was in the hospital after "recklessly" driving his car and crashing into a tree on Wexford Boulevard around 2:45 a.m.

The driver was operating his 2009 red Nissan coupe "at a high rate of speed, resulting in loss of control of the vehicle," said Police Lt. Anne Stirm.

The driver, a 32-year-old from Rootstown, was taken by Stow EMS to the hospital. The passenger was uninjured.Β

Officers were in the middle of pulling another driver over for a possible OVI when the Nissan sped past a cruiser on Fishcreek Road, said police. Additional officers were called to apprehend the driver, said Stirm.
