The Akron Metropolitan Area Transportation Study (AMATS) will host two public meetings regarding the Ohio Department of Transportation's nearly $65 million widening of Interstate 271. Scheduled to begin in 2014, the project will widen I-271 to six lanes and extend for more than 2.6 miles through the city of Macedonia.
Because of this project’s significance to the Greater Akron area, AMATS must modify the area’s long-range Transportation Outlook 2035 and its four-year Transportation Improvement Program for Fiscal Years 2014 through 2017.
