Record Publishing Wants Tax Abatement for Move from Stow to Kent

Company asking for 75 percent, 12-year maximum abatement on $3 million investment.

This morning the Record Publishing Co., which publishes the Record-Courier and several weekly newspapers in Northeast Ohio, announced its request to the city of Kent for a tax abatement to move back to Portage County's largest city.

The announcement,Β in the form of a news story, briefly summed up the requested abatement, which estimates show would save the company as much as $13,834 annually for 12 years β€” up to $166,000 total β€”on a $3 million investment in the company's West Main Street building.

The move will close the company's Stow offices, located at 1619 Commerce Dr., and consolidate the bulk of their offices working in Ravenna into the former Kent Mazda building.
