Softball Team Loses to Nordonia High School

The Lady Bulldogs lost to Nordonia 9-4 Thursday.

The softball team was back in action today following four rained out games during the past five days, but it was a loss.

Nordonia started out strong as they scored a total of 9 runs on 10 hits and were aided by five Stow errors in the first three innings to take an early 9-0 lead in the game.

Stow finally got on the scoreboard as and Sarah Parsons started off the bottom of the fourth inning, each getting a base hit. After Alex Shaver reached base on a walk to load the bases with no outs, Stephanie Little came through with a base hit to left field scoring both Rooney and Parsons.

The rally fell short as the next three batters were retired and the inning ended with Stow behind 9-2.

Nordonia was held scoreless the remainder of the game, but Stow could only score single runs in the fifth and sixth innings, falling short in the game as Nordonia won 9-4.

Stow’s record is now at 9-2 for the season.

Julie Rooney was 3-for-3 with 2 doubles and a single and scored 2 runs for Stow. Sarah Parsons went 2-for-4,both singles, scored a run and had 2 RBI. Annette Fetter took the loss for Stow, while recording 8 strikeouts as her season record now stands at 7-1.

The Lady Bulldogs return to action this weekend in the 3rd Annual Racers Rock ‘N’ Fire Classic at Akron Firestone Stadium. On Friday, Stow is scheduled to play Garfield at 2 p.m. and Madison at 6 p.m. Saturday Stow will play Walsh at 11 a.m. and Newcomerstown at 1 p.m.
