Stow has been well represented in all the United States Armed Forces since its earliest days. How often do we acknowledge the men and women who have served? Memorial Day, of course, and Veterans Day, as well. But what about other days? Not just holidays, but “regular” days. Days when we see the American flag flying, and we recognize that it’s those brave people who have kept it flying for us for all these years.

The City of Stow and The Stow Arts Commission invite the Stow community to help plant a United States Flag “garden” at the Doughboy Corner (Rte. 91 & Graham Rd.) of City Hall grounds. US flags from young and old and everyone in between will be “planted” where the flowers were throughout the summer.
Families, individuals, veterans – everyone—is asked to bring a US flag or two and plant them for everyone to see from October 1st through Veterans Day, November 11th. Small flags, medium flags, large flags – all are hoped for, and the more that are planted, the better it will look.

Since we’re honoring our US veterans, only US flags will be “planted.” The flags will be removed after Veterans Day and stored at City Hall. Next spring, the flags will be retrieved from storage, and a second flag “planting” will be moved to the bed surrounding the flagpole at the Stow Safety Center. Again, the call will go out to the community to fill in the circle there with hundreds or even thousands of US flags, and only US flags.
This fall thank a Veteran! Plant a flag!!
