Stow Boy Shines On Stage in 'The Sound of Music'

A modern-day Von Trapp family of sorts will be well-represented portraying the original Von Trapp family in "" at Porthouse Theatre in Cuyahoga Falls.  

Sam Culver, 10, of Stow will portray Kurt Von Trapp. Performance runs in the Culver family. Dad Tim is an old hand at acting and mom Jennifer is providing musical accompaniment in the "Sound of Music" production.   

For Sam, it just seems to be natural and he doesn't get nervous at all.

"Well, if I was nervous then I pretty much would have butterflies in my stomach. But I don't, so I'm not really nervous."

Tim Culver said he gets nervous enough for his son. 

For Sam, future plans might not necessarily be seeking the lights on Broadway. "I want to be a video game designer," he said.  His current favorite game is "The Amazing Spider-Man." 

He hasn't seen the new Spider-Man movie yet: "I want to so bad," he said.

"The Sound of Music" is performed at the Porthouse Theatre through Aug. 12. Tickets are available for $17-37.
