November Mayor Letter

Dear Stow Residents,

It is hard to believe, but the holiday season is already upon us! While it has been a unique and different year, there is still much to celebrate this holiday season, including all of you – the people who make Stow such an amazing community.

I am so thankful to be a part of this community, and I feel incredibly lucky to serve as your mayor. It has been so heartwarming to see the comradery and togetherness of our residents even while we’ve had to stay socially distanced during this last year. We are #StowStrong and that continues to show every day. It shows in the support we’ve had for our Stop for Stow school bus safety campaign, in the participation we’ve had in virtual or box to-go events, and in the general positivity we feel around the city. Thank you for making Stow the best community to live in, work in and be a part of!

While we are incredibly grateful for you, we want to know what you are thankful for, too! We invite all of our residents and visitors to Stow to stop by City Hall throughout November to place a note of thanks on our Thankful Tree. There are leaves and markers available just inside the main doors of City Hall. Simply write your message of thanks on a leaf and place on the tree.

Our Santa’s Mailbox will also be returning to City Hall! Nov. 27 through Dec. 18, children (and all of those who believe) will be able to drop off their letters to Santa. We’ll make sure they get safely delivered to the big guy at the North Pole! Don’t forget to include a self-addressed, stamped envelope so Santa can send you a letter in return.

Our flagship Glow with Stow is also back this year! Of course, it won’t be the extravagant lighting party that we are used to having, but it will be just as spectacular! We’re inviting everyone to walk through or drive through Stow City Center to see all of the lights and displays and share in the holiday spirit in a safe and socially distanced way. Glow with Stow will be up from Dec. 3 through Jan. 3, 2021.

Thanks to the planning of the City of Stow Arts Commission, new this year is the Heritage Park Holiday Drive-Thru! Take a ride back in time at Silver Springs Park. View period-specific decorated historical homes and see jolly old St. Nick!

We will also be hosting the Santa & Friends Holiday Parade on Dec. 12, starting at noon. It will be similar to this year’s tribute to the Fourth of July Parade and will travel throughout Stow. More information and a map of the parade route will be available closer to the date. Stay tuned to the City’s website and Facebook so you don’t miss out!

All November and the first week of December, we are continuing our outstanding leaf pickup program. Please remember to have your leaves raked into piles on your tree lawn and left no more than 5 feet away from the edge of the street. Leaves should be ready for collection by 7 a.m. Monday of the week your neighborhood is scheduled. Find the schedule on the City’s website at https://stowohio.org/leaf-pickup/. Additionally, crews are unable to pick up leaves near obstructions or behind a car parked on the street, so please be as courteous as possible when utilizing curb/street parking.

Again, thank you for your continuous cooperation, support and dedication to this great city! We are lucky to have actively involved residents as well as local business owners who show their Stow pride all year long. We are Stow Strong!

Have a very happy and safe Thanksgiving!

Sincerely,
Mayor John Pribonic
