Volunteers Assembling New Bleachers at High School

The new bleachers will be used for the new student and band section at the football stadium.

Early this Saturday and Sunday students will gather at the high school before the start of school to assemble the new bleachers purchased by the Stow-Munroe Falls Booster Club.

"We are in the process of building a new front entrance and [yesterday] the new bleachers were dropped off," said Tom Steiger, vice president of the booster club. "The new bleachers were purchased by the booster club and will be used for a new student section and for the band."

The two sets of bleachers cost $34,000, said Fred Bonacci.

"Each set is 10 rows high and 54-feet long and each set holds 310 students," he said.

Students are volunteering their Saturday and Sunday mornings to put the bleachers together near the end zone closest to the concession stand.

"We need some help putting these together," said Steiger. Those who would like to volunteer may show up at the stadium at 9 a.m. Aug. 6 and 7. He added that if residents willing to help have extra sockets and wrenches, to bring them along.

"The boosters and BEST For Stow Inc. have been hard at work trying to improve the stadium for all!" he said.

BEST For Stow is a non-profit organization and is not affiliated with any other school or civic organization. This is a single mission driven organization set in place to spearhead this project for the benefit of the community, according to its website.

The booster club is also working to get turf for the field.

"The new bleachers are also part of our new stadium concept," said Steiger. "This will allow more seating for everyone in the main section while also giving athletes a chance to run through their peers in the stands as they enter the field."

The next booster club meeting is Aug. 10 at 7 p.m. in the lecture hall at the high school.
