2018's Most Borrowed Books, Movies From Cuyahoga Libraries
The region's most checked out book is set in....a suburb of Cleveland. That's pretty cool.

The countdown to the end of 2018 is on. That means it's time to reflect on the year that was. It also means it's time for end-of-year lists to be published by news outlets across the nation. Patch is offering a local twist on that time-honored news tradition.
We reached out to the Cuyahoga County Library system and asked which books, movies, and children's books were the most checked out in 2018. The results were both surprising, delightful and indicative of the culture of Northeast Ohio.
Library goers were plenty interested in Oscar-nominated films like "The Shape of Water", "The Post", "Darkest Hour" and more. The most borrowed adult book of 2018 was actually set in Shaker Heights. "Little Fires Everywhere" is a local book that became a national sensation.

The success and popularity of Ng's "Little Fires Everywhere" has kept it at the top of many most-requested books lists. OverDrive, which provides a digital reading platform for American libraries, released data showing Ng's novel was themost popular e-book and second most popular audio book nationwide in 2018. So that fire is burning everywhere, not just Northeast Ohio.
