Sign up now for fall session

An ACT test-preparation course will be offered from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Polaris Career Center, 7285 Old Oak Blvd. in Middleburg Heights. The five-week course will be on Wednesdays starting Sept. 14.

In previous courses, students averaged up to five-point increases on ACT practice exams.

The students take sample tests to identify weaknesses, set goals and build confidence as scores rise, said instructor Laura Icardi.

Experienced teachers will review skills in English and math, as well as test-taking strategies. Students also will solve problems in all subjects, from figuring algebraic equations to editing sentences to analyzing scientific experiments.

The sessions promise personal study plans and homework assignments, based on individual needs. Class sizes are small and made up of fewer than 24 students.
