Applications for Aug. 2 Mail-In Ballots Available this Week
School district is seeking levy at special election

Voters in nine municipalities, including Strongsville, will receive vote-by-mall ballot applications starting June 16 for the Aug. 2 special election.
“Most voters are choosing to vote by mail in special elections,” said Jane Platten, the Director of the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections, in a news release.
In the Aug. 2010 special election, 60 percent of the ballots were cast by mail. In February 2011, that number went up to 73 percent.

The Strongsville School District has a on the Aug. 2 ballot. The issue, if approved, would run for four years and generate about $10 million a year for school operations.
It would cost residents $211 a year for every $100,000 of their home's valuation, Treasurer Bill Parkinson said.

It follows the defeat of a 9.9-mill school levy in May.
Vote-by-mail ballot applications are also available at public libraries, the Board of Elections, 2925 Euclid Ave.,Cleveland, the Board of Elections website or by calling the Board of Elections at 216-443-3298.
The ballots themselves will be mailed to voters after June 28.
