Avenue, Women’s Clothing Store, Closing All Ohio Locations

The clothing store has more than 200 locations across the country, including stores in Middleburg Heights and Elyria.

MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS, OH — Avenue, a women’s clothing store, is closing all of its U.S. locations, according to Hilco Merchant Resources, the company carrying out the liquidation. The company will be closing all 222 stores in 33 states, including a dozen locations in Ohio.

Clothes, shoes and accessories at the store are currently discounted leading up to the closings. The store sells plus size clothes in sizes 14-32.

Hilco did not specify when stores would close.

The brand has 12 locations in the Buckeye State. The locations slated to close are:

  • Beavercreek Town Center at 2850 Centre Drive, Beavercreek
  • Town & Country SC at 3752 E. Broad Street, Columbus
  • Sun Center at 3616 West Dublin - Granville Road, Columbus
  • Plaza at Chapel Hill at 442 Howe Avenue, Cuyahoga Falls
  • River Street Square at 245 Midway Boulevard, Elyria
  • Springfield Commons at 1300 S. Holland Sylvania Road, Holland
  • Northpark Center at 8225 Old Troy Pike, Huber Heights
  • Southgate USA at 21606 Libby Road, Maple Heights
  • Southland Shopping Center at 6857 Southland Drive, Middleburg Heights
  • Howland Commons at 2190 Niles Cortland Road, Warren
  • Shoregate Shopping Center at 29900 Lakeshore Boulevard, Willowick
  • Boardman Plaza at 511 Boardman Canfield Road, Youngstown

“Avenue shoppers will be amazed not only by the incredible savings, but also by the great selections and styles available at the closing sale,” Hilco said in a press release. “Given the popularity of the brand and the seasonal trends, merchandise is sure to sell out quickly. We are encouraging consumers to shop early and take advantage of these offers.”

According to Coresight Research, which tracks store openings and closings in the U.S., major retailers have announced more than 7,500 closings in 2019, which exceeds the total stores closures of over 5,500 in all of 2018.

Coresight said specialist apparel stores like children’s clothing store Gymboree, women’s retailer Dressbarn, Charming Charlie and Charlotte Russe have contributed to a majority of the closings.
