Behind-the-Scenes Buzz -- City Kills Mosquitos so You Don't Have To
Service department sprays for bugs before big events

If you went up to Foltz Parkway to watch the Fourth of July fireworks and didn't get stung by a mosquito, thank Strongsville's service department.
In a bid to be a good host, the city sprayed the area several days before to keep the pests at bay.
"We do some spraying in-house before big events," Service Director Joe Walker said. "We sprayed the area about a week before the fireworks."

Walker said the city also sprays for mosquitos for other events, like the annual Breakfast on the Bridge. A few days before the City's Club's annual event in September, city crews will spray a mosquito killer near the river, although not on the bridge itself, where food will be served.
"You don't want people to show up to eat and get eaten up themselves," Walker said.
