Bomb Squad Trains, then Puts it To Use When Explosive is Found

Device found in Brecksville during unit's practice session

Members of the Southwest Enforcement Bureau's Bomb Squad were just wrapping up their twice-a-month training session Dec. 13 when they were called to put that training to use.

Service department workers in Brecksville found what appeared to be a pipe bomb and took it to the police station there to be checked.

Strongsville Detective Lt. John Janowski, a member of the Bomb Squad, said the device was made of copper and appeared to be a real pipe bomb.
