Help Your Child Have A Healthy Level Of Self-Esteem

Children who have low self-esteem often suffer in a variety aspects of their life including having the strength to stand up for themselves, not feeling comfortable trying new things etc.

Everyone wants to feel that they are special to others in their life. For a child it first is their parents. Certainly while not ignoring your child’s issues or problems such as difficulty at school or getting along with a friend or sibling, concentrate on that child’s strengths.

Tip: Find a specific time and day this week to spend “private time” with your child.  Go take a walk in the park, or walk your dog together will give your child a feeling that he/she is important.

Feeling important to the adults that play a significant part in a child’s life contributes highly to his/her self-esteem.
