Brunswick Man Sentenced To 11 Years For Child Pornography

The man had 136,000 computer files with depictions of child pornography in his possession.

BRUNSWICK, OH — A 54-year-old Brunswick man has been sentenced to more than 11 years in prison for possession of child sex abuse. Scott Wroten will serve 136 months in prison, U.S. Attorney Justin E. Herdman announced Tuesday.

Herdman's office said Wroten received approximately 136,000 computer files with visual depictions of real minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct, including sexual abuse and beastiality. Wroten gathered the files together between 2011 and 2016, according to Herdman's office.

Wroten pleaded guilty to receiving and possessing visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. The investigation into Wroten was led by the Cleveland office of Homeland Security, the Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the Brunswick Police Department and the Wickliffe Police Department.

Police arrested Wroten Aug. 29. He was then released on a $10,000 bond, according to the Gazette.

The investigation into Wroten started at his former company ABB, Inc. where child pornography files were discovered on his work computer. When confronted, Wroten reportedly told management he had downloaded the files and he was fired.

Police started their investigation into him shortly after he was terminated.
