Bryan Bogre is New Recreation Director

Former facilities manager gets unanimous nod for the job

Bryan Bogre becomes Strongsville's new director of recreation and senior services today.

Bogre, an 11-year employee who has been acting as interim director since Jan. 8, was officially appointed to the post Monday night by Mayor Tom Perciak. City Council unanimously confirmed the appointment.

"This is a proud moment for all of Strongsville tonight," Perciak said, noting that Bogre grew up in the city. "This is one of our own home-grown, taking over one of our major departments."

Bogre replaces Steve Kilo, who is now the city's human resources director.

Bogre, who worked under Kilo as facilities manager, said his first challenge in the post will be "keeping the budget where it should be -- not overspending."

He said he feels prepared for the new role because Kilo allowed him to handle a number of duties as far as managing staff and the budget.

Bogre said he has no major changes planned for programming during his first months on the job.

"We've got such a great staff, there's no reason to micro-manage them," he said.

As director, Bogre will oversee the as well as the city's sports leagues, fields, playgrounds and parks.
