Call about Chloroform Alarms Employees

Employees at TNT Tanning, 14765 Pearl Rd., called police Tuesday after a man called them asking about chloroform.

A report said a man called about noon and asked if they knew what chloroform is. Other stores have been getting similar calls, the employees said.

Chloroform is a gas that depresses the central nervous system and was once widely used as an anesthetic. Movies show criminals using it to knock out their victims.

Police told the employees to notify them if the calls continue or if they become threatening.
