Here are the top three stories today in Strongsville:

  1. On Tuesday, the Cuyahoga County Council agreed that a new county jail will need to be built. The council announced that all county jail decisions will be placed on hold until the county elects the next executive. All county jail legislation will eventually need to be reintroduced due to its withdrawal. (Subscription: Cleveland.com)
  2. A new report issued by Destination Cleveland indicates that tourism numbers are starting to bounce back in Cuyahoga County. The county's tourism industry collapsed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Last year, the county enjoyed a 17 percent increase in tourist visits. The organization reports that the county will likely return to pre-pandemic numbers in early 2024. (News 5 Cleveland)
  3. The Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office has announced that the two men accused of cheated during the Lake Erie Walleye Trail Tournament have been charged. Jacob Runyan, 42 years old, and Chase Cominsky, 35 years old, have been charged with cheating, attempted grand theft, possessing criminal tools, and unlawful ownership of wild animals. Shortly after the Sep. 30 tournament, footage of their fish being sliced into went viral on social media. (News 5 Cleveland)
