Family Video Battling Lymphoma With 'Round It Up' Initiative

Last year, the movie and video game chain raised over $1 million in two weeks.

On Friday, Family Video will re-launch its highly successful Round It Up for Lymphoma initiative.

The effort offers customers a chance to support cancer research by rounding up their purchases to the nearest dollar, according to Kristin Skrinyer, a Family Video district manager.

Then, 100 percent of the proceeds will be used to fund research projects that offer the greatest potential to advance the field of lymphoma research and the discovery of new treatments.

Last year, the movie rental chain collected $1 million in two weeks, said Skrinyer.

This year, all proceeds will be split between the Lymphoma Research Foundation and a University of Chicago lymphoma tissue bank.

Lymphoma is the most common type of blood cancer in adults, and the third most common in children. More than 500,000 Americans are living with the disease in some form, and 200 more are diagnosed each day.

Customers can participate at Strongsville's Family Video location, or online at familyvideo.com.
