Farmers Market Returns To Strongsville Thursday

The weekly event is held outside the Ehrnfelt Rec Center, 18100 Royalton Rd., from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

STRONGSVILLE, OH — The Strongsville Farmers Market returns Thursday to the city. The event is hosted every week, outside the Ehrnfelt Rec Center, 18100 Royalton Rd. The market is always open on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The city said on its official Facebook account that patrons will find more than locally-sourced produce. Among the stands at the farmers market, attendees will be able to purchase baked goods, jams, jellies, honey, flowers and more.

Farmers markets have been increasing in popularity over the past three decades. The USDA began collecting information on farmers markets in 1994, according to a study by Cornell University. In 1994, there were 1,755 markets. By 2006, there were 4,385 markets. The numbers then grew exponentially between 2008 and 2014, with the number of farmers markets nationwide increasing by 76 percent, and the USDA's National Farmers Market Directory listed 8,268 markets in 2014.
