The has some cool programs for the hot days of August.

Registration is required for most events.  Call (440) 238-5530 to register or for more information. All events sponsored by the Friends of Strongsville Branch Library. Customers may also visit the library website to register and to see more library event information.  
Year-Round Story Times

Cuyahoga County Public Library offers story time sessions year-round for children birth to grade 2.  Story Time sessions are on hiatus for August. Call the Strongsville Branch for program information and more details.

Young at Heart Book Club.  Meets the first Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. 

A book club for adults who love children’s and teen books.  Next discussion will be on Tuesday, Aug. 2. Register in person to pick up a copy of the book The Wager by Donna Jo Napoli. Join the group for refreshments and a sprightly discussion of children’s and teen literature.

Ice Cream Social.  Saturday, Aug. 6 from 1-3 p.m.  

 Celebrate reading! Participants in the Summer Reading Program and their parents and/or grandparents are invited to the library for ice cream sundaes. (Special thanks to the V.F.W. Post 3345 for sponsoring this event to congratulate the summer readers.) Register by phone, in person or at cuyahogalibrary.org.

Friends’ Annual Meeting and Author Event.  Wednesday, Aug. 10 at 7 p.m.

A short business meeting begins this wonderful event featuring paranormal investigator - one of Cleveland's favorites. Mary Ann's books will be available for purchase and a signing will follow her presentation. This program is FREE to all members of the Friends of Strongsville Branch Library. Memberships will be available at the door for $8 per person/family or can be purchased in advance at the Strongsville Branch. 

Freezing and Canning Workshop.  Tuesday, Aug. 16 at 7 p.m.

Gardeners and other lovers of fresh produce are often interested in extending the season's bounty by learning more about home-preserving fruits and vegetables. A representative from the Ohio State University Extension will present this workshop on the basics of home canning and preservation - appropriate for people with all levels of experience!

Wednesday Evening Book Discussion.  Meets the third Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m.  

New members are welcome. Next discussion will be on Wednesday, Aug. 17 at 7 p.m.  In August, members will discuss their favorite reads of the summer. Come talk about the book of your choice at this next meeting, and pick up a copy of the September discussion title.  


Teen READ Book Club.  Grades 5 – 8.  Saturday, Aug. 20 from 11 a.m. – noon. 

Teens in grades 5 - 8 can join a book discussion club just for them. Refreshments will be served and you can win a free book as a door prize. Meets one Saturday a month at 11 a.m. Contact the library for copies of the book being discussed. Registration is requested. 

Monday Afternoon Book Discussion. Meets the fourth Monday of each month at 2:30 p.m. 

New members are welcome. Next discussion will be on Monday, August 22.  Copies of the book The Postmistress by Sarah Blake are available at the circulation desk.

Strongsville Saves Coupon Club.  Meets the fourth Monday of each month from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. N meeting is on Aug. 22. 

Join the and share your passion for saving with other like-minded shoppers! Bring your scissors, and your stockpile of manufacturer coupons to share. Share what you don't want and hopefully leave with more coupons that you really need! This is the place to trade coupons, spend time with other coupon lovers, and share stories of great deals! See how others organize and share tips with other "couponers."
