'Go Red' Events Planned by Southwest General

Activities designed to raise awareness of heart disease

is hosting "heart friendly" and "heart fun" events in February to raise awareness of heart disease.

Heart disease is the No. 1 cause of death in women, according to the American Heart Association.

Go Red” Baked Goods and Craft Extravaganza — Friday, Feb. 10, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., in the Spine Hallway, for baked good, a craft fest and raffles.

Zumba for “Go Red!” -- LifeWorks of Southwest General will host a special fundraising event for the AHA’s “Go Red” campaign. Join area instructors on Saturday, Feb. 11, 9:30-11:30 a.m., for this event featuring Zumba®. A $10 donation is asked per participant. Register by calling 440-816-4202.

Walkin’ in Style! for “Go Red” -- On Sunday, Feb. 12, 10 a.m.-noon, Lydia Esparra from Channel 19 Action News will host this “Go Red” event at the  mall. Glam up in your red walking gear, grab some friends, and head to the mall for a 30-minute mall walk led by a LifeWorks of Southwest General fitness expert, followed by a “Go Red” fashion show. Participants will have the opportunity to sample some heart-healthy food, have a photo taken with “Cupid,” get a red lipstick makeover and much more. A $5 donation is asked. The first 100 people in red will get a SouthPark goodie bag.
