Golf Outing will Aid HansonHouse

Event is Aug. 19 at Emerald Woods

HansonHouse Traumatic Brain Injury Clubhouse will host its Tenth Annual Golf Benefit and Barbecue Dinner on Sunday, Aug. 19, at Emerald Woods Golf Course in Columbia Station.

The event is the major fundraiser for HansonHouse, a non-profit organization developed by and for people with traumatic brain injuries.

There will be a shotgun start at 9 a.m. An optional non-denominational church service will be held at 8 a.m.

The $90 cost per golfer includes 18 holes of golf, cart, coffee and donuts, snack, dinner and prizes. A limited number of disabled golfer scholarships will be available.

There will also be a silent auction. Non-golfers can participate in the auctions and enjoy the barbecue for $40.

The event is sponsored by area Kiwanis clubs, United Methodist Church of Berea, Southwest General Health Center, VFW North Olmsted, VFW Columbia Station, the Boggs and Ferut Families and the city of Berea.

Sponsorships are still available starting at $100.

Each year more than 2 million people in U.S. have a traumatic brain injury caused by a stroke or a sudden assault to the head due to motor vehicle accidents, falls, violence and sports.

HansonHouse in Berea is a supportive network of members and volunteers who participate in social, recreational and work-oriented programs for TBI victims to help them regain living skills.
