GPS Tracking To Be Added To Strongsville School Buses
Once the technology is installed, parents will be able to monitor where their child's transportation is in the city.

STRONGSVILLE, OH — Strongsville School buses will soon be equipped with GPS monitoring systems. The decision to add GPS to the district's bus fleet was made Thursday night at the Board of Education meeting.
In a message to parents on Friday morning, Superintendent Cameron Ryba said the goal is to add GPS systems to buses before Thanksgiving. The GPS systems would then connect to an app that parents could access.
Parents would be able to see where their children's school bus was from their cell phone using the new technology, Ryba said. The superintendent believes the GPS technology will also aid the district from a planning and operations front.

The Strongsville City Schools will lease the GPS systems from Synovia Solutions for $31,407 per year, for five years, according to the Board of Education agenda. Funding for the program will come from the district's permanent improvement fund.
"Due to the efforts of our exemplary mechanics and the strategic planning of our operations manager, we have needed to replace fewer buses and were able to fund both the cameras and GPS with this budget savings," Ryba said in his message to families.
