Iconic Skateland Catches Fire Overnight In Brookpark

The decades-old skating rink caught fire during the early morning hours of Wednesday. It's unclear how much damage was done.

BROOKPARK, OH — Skateland, an iconic skating rink in Brookpark, caught fire on early Wednesday morning. Multiple fire departments were needed to control the blaze. The business should be able to repair the damage and then re-open, according to reports.

The fire was reported at about 12:30 a.m., according to Fox 8. Heavy smoke was still billowing from the roof at 2:30 a.m. and the light of the fire illuminated the night sky.

The fire is believed to have started in the DJ booth, near the skating rinks. It's unclear what started the fire, officials said.
