- Captain Steven Hammett has been named interim sheriff by the Cuyahoga County Executive. The interim appointment is necessary after Christopher Viland abruptly resigned at the beginning of the month due to personal reasons. Hammett was on the shortlist for the sheriff appointment in 2021 but was not granted the position due to inadequate law enforcement education. (Cleveland.com)
