It's Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Time In Strongsville

Gather up all those herbicides, oil-based paints, and motor oil and get ready to throw em out.

STRONGSVILLE, OH — It's that time of year again. Hazardous waste can be dropped off at the Strongsville Service Center September 6-8.

Latex paint will not be accepted, but many other items will. A list of acceptable, hazarous waste is available at the bottom of this article.

The Service Center is at 16099 Foltz Parkway. Residents can drop their waste off between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on September 6 and 7; and between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 8.

Hazardous items that can be dropped off:

  • Oil or solvent-based paint,
  • varnish,
  • mineral spirits,
  • caustic household cleaners,
  • adhesives,
  • gasoline,
  • sealers,
  • polyurethane,
  • herbicides,
  • automotive fluids,
  • roof tar,
  • lighter fluid,
  • primers and coatings,
  • shellac,
  • pesticides,
  • motor oil,
  • driveway sealer,
  • mercury,
  • paint thinner,
  • turpentine,
  • fungicides,
  • car batteries and
  • kerosene.

Residents cannot drop off fluorescent light bulbs or rechargeable batteries. Pearl Road business Batteries + Bulbs may be able to help recycling those items. Regular batteries can be thrown in the trash.

"To dispose of latex paint, leave the lid off to dry up paint, or mix in a drying agent, and leave at the curb with the rest of your trash. Please leave the lid off so the refuse collector can see that the paint is dry," the city said on its website.
