Kids Can be Part of Civil War Camp, Re-Enactment
Strongsville Historical Society sponsoring week-long event

The will host a week-long Civil War camp for kids in third, fourth and fifth grades.
In Camp Ohio 150, participants will be enlisted into the Ohio Army of the West for supervised activities like close order drills, a scavenger hunt for replica relics from the Civil War and learning the music of the era.
The camp will run 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 1-5.

Squads will navigate the to locate local Civil War soldiers' gravesites and will plan a mock battle on property.Â
Re-enactors from the Ohio 2nd Division Field Hospital, Army of the West will visit the camp, as will Abraham Lincoln. The camp culminates with a parent program Aug. 5.

Squad members will receive a kepi and haversack as their uniform for the week. The Historical Society is hosting the camp to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Civil War.
