Kids can 'Touch a Truck' at Metroparks Event in Strongsville

All kinds of equipment will be on display Aug. 21, as well as a huge sandbox

Join Cleveland Metroparks for the inaugural "Touch-A-Truck" event on Sunday, Aug. 21 from noon to 4 p.m. at Strongsville Park Operations in Mill Stream Run Reservation.

With more than 30 pieces of equipment on site, kids can enjoy climbing on and in, and learning why each piece of equipment is used.

Some of the departments that will have equipment on display, include park operations, specialty crews, golf, natural resources, park rangersand outdoor education.

Kids can also have fun playing in a huge "sand trap" with more than two tons of sand brought in from the golf division. Children can use their hands to create and design their own pieces of equipment in the sand.

EarthWords Nature Shop will also be selling merchandise, and refreshments will be for sale.

The first 1,000 kids will receive a free construction hat.

Strongsville Park Operations building is at 9485 Eastland Rd. in Mill Stream Run Reservation, off Valley Parkway, west of Pearl Road in Strongsville.
