Kids Can 'Touch a Truck' in Metroparks

Free event set in Strongsville Aug. 19

Cleveland Metroparks will have a free "Touch-A-Truck" event on Sunday, Aug. 19 from noon to 4 p.m. at Strongsville Park Operations in in Strongsville.

With more 30 pieces of equipment on-site, kid­­­s can enjoy climbing on and in, and learning why each piece of equipment is used. 

Equipment on display will include a backhoe, Caterpillar and mini-excavator.

Kids can also play in a huge sandbox with more than two tons of sand brought in from the golf division.

And bring empty aluminium cans for a Steam Roller Demonstration. The cans will be rolled "flat as a pancake" at 1, 2 and 3 p.m. and donated to Cleveland Metroparks recycling program.

EarthWords Nature Shop will also be selling merchandise, and families can "fuel up" with refreshments available for sale.

Haywagons and shuttle buses will be available to and from the additional parking areas.

Strongsville Park Operations facility is at 9485 Eastland Road in Mill Stream Run Reservation, off Valley Parkway, west of Pearl Road/Route 42 in Strongsville.
