Man in Black Pickup Cruises Neighborhoods, Alarms Residents

The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department

A man driving around two neighborhoods off Prospect Road Tuesday and Wednesday alarmed residents, who called police with a number of sightings.

On Tuesday, a Chestnut Drive resident asked police to stay in the area while kids walked home from school because a man in a black pickup truck was seen cruising the neighborhood multiple times that day.

On Wednesday, a woman walking her dog on Cedar Branch Trail about 11 a.m. also noticed a man driving a black truck slowly up and down the streets.

About noon, another resident -- who had also seen the truck the day before -- reported it was on Hazelwood Avenue.

A witness got the license number. When a resident saw the truck again on Peachtree Drive about 2:20 p.m., police stayed in the area until the driver returned at 3 p.m.

The driver told police he works for a company in Solon and was trying to contact a Peachtree Drive resident who left a vehicle on company property.

The company hasn't been able to get the man to answer his phone or door, a report said.

So the driver said he was driving around, stopping every half hour to see if he could catch the resident outside.

Police told the driver he was making the neighbors anxious and asked him to stop cruising.
