STRONGSVILLE, OH — The Strongsville Council of PTAs named its Outstanding District Educator for the 2017-2018 school year. This year's Lori Yates, a third grade teacher at Kinser Elementary, claimed the award.
“I am proud to be a part of the Strongsville School District where I work with an amazing team of dedicated people who inspire me every day. I am truly honored to have been selected as PTA's Outstanding District Educator," Yates said.

Yates has been a member of the Strongsville School District for six years and a resident of the city for 14 years. She was nominated by a member of the Kinser Elementary PTA who has a son in Yates' class.
“Mrs. Yates went above and beyond to help my son develop the skills he needed to succeed in her classroom. She spent extra time talking with him, and even stayed in with him during lunch to help him finish his work. She has collaborated with the school psychologist to figure out ways to calm and counter some of his frustrations in learning,” the nominator said.

The praise for Yates came from all corners, with Kinser Elementary Principal Adam Marino saying, “Mrs. Yates has a tremendous work ethic. She puts forth the time not only in her teaching, but in helping others and at different building level and district level committees. Mrs. Yates is also gifted at being able to anticipate when students are going to have a difficult time understanding a topic or idea. She then plans her lessons to ensure she reaches everyone.”
Yates has been a professional educator for 19 years. She's an alumnus of Kent State University.
“The Outstanding District Educator award exemplifies the important link between teacher, parent, and student. Strongsville Council PTA is pleased to recognize Mrs. Yates this year for her dedication and commitment to Kinsner Elementary and to her students,” said Carrie Dewes, Strongsville Council PTA President.
