Mike Dovilla Unanimously Endorsed by Cuyahoga County Republican Party
U.S. Navy Veteran's Campaign for the Ohio Senate Continues to Gain Momentum
ROCKY RIVER, OHIO—The Central and Executive Committees of the Republican Party of Cuyahoga County today unanimously endorsed Mike Dovilla for the 24th Ohio Senate District.
In accepting a joint endorsement with his rivals for the GOP nomination, Dovilla expressed his gratitude to members of the joint committee, commenting: “I have had the honor to serve our Nation in the U.S. Navy for nearly 14 years, to serve on the staff of U.S. Senator George Voinovich, to serve as state representative for 7th Ohio House District, and to serve as the House Majority Whip. I look forward to serving the people of the 24th Ohio Senate District – and I will. I will with the hard work, bold leadership, and real results you’ve come to count on from me.”
Dovilla offers Republicans the best chance to win in November, as the candidate with an impressive record of legislative accomplishment – a record that does not include burdening Ohioans with higher taxes. Dovilla’s fiscally conservative approach, which has balanced three budgets and cut Ohioans’ taxes by $5 billion, stands in marked contrast to the embarrassing record of one of his opponents, who partnered with failed Gov. Ted Strickland to take one-time federal “stimulus” money and raise income taxes on all Ohioans in the midst of a recession.
“I am the pro-life, pro-2nd Amendment candidate who has been the author of 14 state laws in five years, who always accepts and excels at the toughest assignments from the Speaker, and who the constituents of my home county rely upon to deliver for them,” said Dovilla to the capacity crowd of fellow Cuyahoga County Republicans. “Thank you for your endorsement and vote of confidence today. I ask for your vote on March 15th. It is my honor to be of service to you.”
This endorsement builds on the momentum established with the key endorsement of current State Senator Tom Patton, who must leave the Senate at the end of 2016 due to term limits. Patton remarked: “Mike Dovilla is the best person for the job. He is experienced and battle tested. He understands the challenges and opportunities Ohio will face over the next eight years. Mike and I share a lot of the same values – hard work, honesty, and integrity. We care about our youth, our seniors, our veterans, and our workers. We both grew up in working class families with public service in our blood. My father, brother, and son were police officers and Mike serves our country in the U.S. Navy. Mike Dovilla will be an outstanding State Senator for Northeast Ohio, and I am proud to support him.”
Representative Mike Dovilla, the Ohio House Majority Whip, is an accomplished state legislator, U.S. Navy veteran, small business owner, and adjunct professor. He has served as an appointee of President George W. Bush, an advisor to U.S. Senator George V. Voinovich, and a Presidential Management Fellow. He is a decorated veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and continues to serve as a lieutenant commander in Navy. Rep. Dovilla holds a Master of Public Administration from American University and Bachelor of Arts from Baldwin Wallace University. An engaged citizen, volunteer, and mentor, he resides in his hometown of Berea.
The 24th Ohio Senate District is comprised of 28 communities in Cuyahoga County – Bay Village, Bentleyville, Brecksville, Broadview Heights, Chagrin Falls, Chagrin Falls Township, Fairview Park, Gates Mills, Glenwillow, Highland Heights, Hunting Valley, Independence, Lyndhurst, Mayfield, Moreland Hills, North Olmsted, North Royalton, Oakwood, Olmsted Falls, Olmsted Township, Rocky River, Seven Hills, Solon, Strongsville, Valley View, Walton Hills, Westlake, and Berea – Rep.
