The Strongsville Schools released more background information on newly appointed board member Sherry Buckner-Sallee.

STRONGSVILLE, OH — In late June, the Strongsville Board of Education approved Sherry Buckner-Sallee to a vacant seat on the board. On Wednesday, the district released more information on Buckner-Sallee's background.

Buckner-Sallee is a certified public accountant. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from Baldwin Wallace University and an MBA from Cleveland State University. She currently is a managing member of a trucking company and is an adjunct professor at Lorain County Community College. She previously worked in financial departments at two Cleveland health care facilities.

"Mrs Buckner-Sallee enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters, Sydney and Shelby who both attended Strongsville City Schools," the district said in the information sent to Patch.

According to her resume, Buckner-Sallee was an instructor for the Strongsville City Schools and Polaris' adult community education program for six years. She taught adult students how to use Microsoft products and navigate the Internet.

Buckner-Sallee replaces George Grozan, who resigned in early June. He said he was being pulled away due to family commitments. During his six-year tenure on the board, Grozan sat on the Facilities Development committee and played a key part in the construction of the new middle school and the renovation of the high school.
